T. Baker Smith Expands Surveying Capabilities with Acquisition of BFM Corporation

Clients across Southeast Louisiana and the Gulf South will now have access to expanded surveying capabilities and a broader range of professional services following T. Baker Smith’s (TBS) acquisition of BFM Corporation (BFM), a respected surveying firm with more than four decades of experience and exceptional client service in the region.
Founded in 1982, BFM has built a strong reputation for delivering professional land and hydrographic surveying services to municipal, transportation, industrial, and private-sector clients throughout Southeast Louisiana. The acquisition strengthens TBS's presence in the Greater New Orleans region while preserving the local expertise and client relationships that have defined BFM's legacy, and expands client access to TBS's multidisciplinary surveying, engineering, environmental, planning, and construction management services.

BFM's associates have joined TBS at the firm's Metairie, LA office, gaining the expanded resources of a larger multidisciplinary organization, while forty years of historical survey records, plats, CAD files, field notes, and geospatial information will be permanently preserved within TBS’s internal AI-enabled knowledge platform, TBS Insights, where it can inform planning, efficiency, and client service
