Every infrastructure project on the water starts with the same question: what's actually down there? For engineers, planners, and asset owners across the Gulf Coast, hydrographic survey is how that question gets answered, but it’s often the survey vessel itself that determines how effectively and efficiently that answer will come. Closing the Gap Between Small Survey Boats and Offshore Ships


A lot of hydrographic survey work falls into an awkward middle ground. A 20-foot boat can get into shallow water, but it can't carry the range of sensors, endurance, or crew capacity that a serious survey demands. A 100-foot offshore vessel has all of that capability, but it's overbuilt (and often slow to mobilize) for the nearshore, inland, and transitional waters where much of the work actually happens.


Hydro Cat 1 was designed to close that gap. It's a purpose-built hydrographic survey vessel that is shallow enough to reach the water our clients need surveyed, and capable enough to carry the full sensor suite that used to require a much bigger platform.
