The Challenge
More than 35,000 vehicles travel the US 190 Collins Boulevard corridor each day, but a single two-lane bridge over the Bogue Falaya River created a major bottleneck. As a key east-west route and evacuation corridor, the congestion impacted daily commutes, emergency access, and regional mobility.

The Solution
Serving as the prime consultant for the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, TBS led the engineering and design of a transformative $30 million infrastructure improvement. The project replaced the two-lane crossing with a new 1,400-foot bridge and expanded the corridor to four total travel lanes, effectively doubling capacity across the river.
The design accounted for future connectivity, including planned ramps from nearby roundabouts, while incorporating modern bridge standards, geometric roadway improvements, and coordinated intersection upgrades along the corridor. From concept through construction support, the project required detailed planning, technical precision, and seamless coordination across disciplines.
The result is a safer, more efficient corridor that reduces congestion, improves travel times, and enhances reliability for the entire region—officially opened to traffic in early 2026.
