Denbury Management contacted T. Baker Smith, Inc. (TBS) regarding the need to apply for the necessary permits for a well they wished to drill. TBS was provided with preliminary coordinates and the approximate flowline route to serve the new well location. The preliminary well location was plotted onto USC&GS quad maps and aerial photography. Any existing office information near this site was researched and gathered for use by the field survey crew.
The TBS field survey crew performed a topographic survey of the area. The preliminary location was staked and banklines tied in. Soundings for water depths were also taken at the location and along the proposed access route. The topographic survey also included the proposed flowline route. A map was prepared for the client of the survey, and the well location and
the flowline route were refined.
U.S. Corps of Engineers permit plats and applications were prepared and submitted to the U.S. Corps of Engineers,
Louisiana Department of Natural Resources, Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality, the
Parish permitting department and all other necessary agencies in order to obtain wetlands permits. The Department of Conservation location plat was prepared and submitted to the Louisiana Office of Conservation for
a permit to drill.
A survey field crew was sent back into the field to stake final location, dredging, spoil placement, and flowline route. Upon completion of drilling, the field survey crew was sent into the field to tie in the as-drilled location of the well and perform an as-built survey of the flowline. An as-drilled permit plat was prepared and submitted to the Office of Conservation. As-built permit drawings were submitted to the
Louisiana Department of Natural Resources, Office of Conservation, Pipeline Division and to the
Louisiana Department of Natural Resources, Coastal Management Division.
