James P. Ledet, President of the Board of
Governors of the American Council of Engineering Companies of Louisiana

James P. Ledet, P.E. serves this year as President of the Board of Governors of the American Council of Engineering Companies of Louisiana (ACEC/L), having actively participated on the board in various positions for 10 years. He is a past president of the Bayou Chapter of the Louisiana Engineering Society and the 1995 recipient of the James M. Todd Technological Accomplishment Medal from LES for his innovative hydraulic modeling using UNET on the 1-1B Forced Drainage Project in Terrebonne Parish. While attending Nicholls State University, Ledet began working part time for T. Baker Smith, Inc. - a prominent professional services company based in Houma since 1913. He completed his education by graduating in 1982 from Louisiana State University, earning a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering while working part time for PECC in Baton Rouge. Upon graduation he returned to the bayou region and TBS until 1992 when he was appointed Public Works Director for Lafourche Parish - the first registered engineer ever to serve in that position. In 1994 Ledet returned to TBS, and in 2002 was elevated to manage the Thibodaux office of TBS. He is married to the former Louise Richard, and they have one son, Matthew, a junior majoring in Geomatics at Nicholls State University. Interestingly, Matthew works part-time for his dad in the Thibodaux office.
